Vedanta has signed an MoU with the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India to construct 4,000 new age Anganwadis (Early Childhood Care Centres) called Nandghars across India. This model re-imagines existing Anganwadis into Nandghars equipped with state-of-the art infrastructure including access to e-learning, clean water, sanitation, perennial solar power supply and nutritious food.
After the Anganwadi hours, the centre doubles as a hub for entrepreneurship training for women from the community. At HZL the Nandghar concept is being integrated with our Flagship Khushi & Sakhi projects, so that both the software and hardware are brought together to provide an unique model for both women and children. Work on constructing 200 Nandghars in all (both brownfield i.e. remodeling of existing Anganwadis and greenfield i.e. construction of new buildings) are currently underway across Ajmer, Bhilwada, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur districts of Rajasthan.
To re-imagine the infrastructure for Anganwadis and provide state of the art facilities of early childhood care for 0-6 year old children and entrepreneurship training for women.
