In a state like Rajasthan, water is an extremely precious resource. At HZL we take special care to use water responsibly. This is evident from the fact that the Sewerage Treatment Plant for Udaipur city has been constructed by HZL and a part of the treated water is used in HZL’s operations.
HZL has partnered with the Government of Rajasthan under Mukhyamantri Jal Swavlamban Yojana to ensure water security among communities in our operational areas. Under this Project, the Detailed Project Reports are prepared by government departments like Forest, Public Health or Irrigation and the construction work is funded and implemented by HZL. During 2016-17, in Bhilwara 4 anicuts have been constructed at Jodhras, Devpuri & Lasariya 1 & Lasariya 2. A water recharge structure has been built at Gajsingpura. Existing wells at Jaisingpura, Gajsingpura and Laxmangarh have been deepened. In Chittorgarh, construction of 41 water harvesting structures like anicuts or deepening of ponds were taken up. In Rajsamand, excavation work for 2 ponds at Charana & Sansera Panchayat was completed.
Other measures by HZL to strengthen water security in communities around its operations in 2016-17, include repair bore-wells in Kayad panchayat, Ajmer. Construction of a 1 lakh litre capacity overhead water tank in Kanthariya, Chittorgarh. Construction of a 40 kiloliters capacity ground level reservoir (GLR) at Gujjar Kheda, Chittorgarh; a 60 kiloliters GLR at Zinc Smelter Panchayat a 100 kiloliters GLR at Nalafala - both at Debari, Udaipur;
During 2016-17, 2350 meters water pipeline got laid in Merta (1250 m) & Bichhdi (1100 m) Panchayats near Zinc Smelter Debari. The pipes were provided by HZL while the construction cost was borne by the two panchayats. In Chittorgarh, HZL supported the laying of pipelines to supply water in Kashmor and Putholi Panchayats.
